2. Our Products

We provide digital study materials for hazardous area certification exams including CompEx, IECEx and ATEX-related qualifications. All products are delivered digitally — no physical materials are shipped.

Please note: Our study materials are independent educational resources and are not produced by, affiliated with, or endorsed by CompEx, IECEx, the Energy Institute, or any accredited certification body.

3. Purchasing and Payment

All prices are displayed in pounds sterling (GBP) and include VAT where applicable. Payment is processed securely by our payment provider. We do not store your payment card details.

Your order is confirmed when you receive an order confirmation email. We reserve the right to decline any order at our discretion.

4. Digital Content — Your Consumer Rights

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, you have a 14-day right to cancel any purchase. However, by proceeding with purchase you expressly consent to us supplying the content immediately and acknowledge that you lose your right to cancel once digital content has been supplied and access has begun.

This is a standard provision for digital content under Regulation 37 of the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.

5. Licence to Use

On purchase, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use the study materials for your own personal study only. You may not:

  • Share, redistribute, or resell the materials to any third party
  • Copy, reproduce, or create derivative works from the materials
  • Use the materials for commercial purposes or group training without written permission
  • Remove or obscure any copyright or trademark notices

6. Intellectual Property

All content within our study materials — including text, diagrams, frameworks, mnemonics, and the POSISYS™ learning methodology — is the intellectual property of The Engineering University and is protected by copyright law.

POSISYS™ is a trademark of The Engineering University. Unauthorised use of this trademark is prohibited.

7. Accuracy of Information

We take care to ensure our study materials are accurate and up to date with current standards (including IEC 60079 series, ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU, and CompEx scheme requirements). However, standards change. We recommend you also consult official standards documents and your training provider.

We do not guarantee that use of our materials will result in a pass in any examination. Examination outcomes depend on individual effort, ability, and circumstances beyond our control.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Engineering University shall not be liable for:

  • Any indirect, consequential, or incidental loss arising from use of our materials
  • Loss of earnings, business opportunities, or professional advancement
  • Examination failure or the cost of re-sitting examinations
  • Any reliance placed on our materials in a professional or workplace context

Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid for the relevant product. Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded by law.

9. Refunds

As digital content supplied with your consent prior to expiry of the cooling-off period, refunds are not available once access has been granted, except where the content is faulty, not as described, or where there has been a technical failure on our part preventing access.

If you believe you are entitled to a refund, please contact hello@theengineeringuniversity.com within 30 days of purchase.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when they were last revised. Continued use of the website or purchased materials after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
